Safety

A river of strangers only works if it stays kind. This is how we look after it, and what we ask of you.
If you are in danger right now
Murlune is peer support, not therapy and not a crisis service. If you might hurt yourself or someone else, please contact your local emergency number or a free helpline near you. It is free and confidential.
For adults only
Murlune is only for people 18 and older. You confirm your age when you arrive. If we learn a device belongs to someone younger, we close the river to it.
Words that sound like a crisis
When something you write in a bottle, an answer, a letter or another note sounds like you may be in danger, we hold it back from strangers and show you helplines instead. Someone on our small safety team may read it to check on it.
Messages inside a conversation are not checked this way. If a conversation turns frightening, report it, and please reach out to a helpline. Detection is not perfect anywhere, so if you need help, contact a helpline directly.
Report and block
Every bottle, answer, reply and message can be reported. Reports are private and read by a person.
Blocking someone means you never meet again, and ends any conversation you share.
What moderators can read
Moderators read what has been reported or held back as a possible crisis, along with the words a reported reply was answering. The one exception is letters to someone going through the same thing: a person reads each one before it reaches anyone, and you are told this before you write.
A calm pace
Everyone has a small daily allowance of actions, and new arrivals start with half of it. This keeps the river calm and makes spam expensive.
When someone breaks the rules, a moderator can remove what they wrote or close the river to their device. They see the reason.
